Continued discipleship and mentoring of SALT Scholars in a hybrid of virtual and outdoor socially-distant settings to maintain our commitment to them and provide them with safe spaces for learning and growth during a difficult season.
Prayer-walked while picking up trash on and around the Square Inch Houston property as well as around the neighboring blocks. This gave us an opportunity to be on our property again, be reminded of the gift it is and the promise it holds in a neighborhood that is changing so fast!
Celebrated the graduation of another SALT Scholar from Texas Southern University. Ronnecia Ferguson was a SALT Scholar for 2 years (through the pandemic) and graduated with a BA in Accounting. She is currently working towards her MBA.
Recruited and approved 3 SALT Scholars for the 2021/22 Academic Year - Kyndal Nichols (new), Aaliyah Styles (returning), and Simisola Ogundare (new).
Hired our first staff person to serve as the Director, SALT Scholars Program - Chinyere Eigege, LCSW.
Sponsored one of the rooms at The Haven @ OST/South, a motel that has been purchased and renovated by one of our ministry partners, Agape Development. It will be used to offer newly-renovated efficiency rooms for individuals looking for a place for a short-term stay.
Increased our donor base and have seen God’s goodness through the prayers, support, and giving of many individuals, churches and organizations.
As we look ahead into 2022, we trust and believe that God will continue the good work he has begun through Square Inch Houston in the lives of many individuals for the social and spiritual renewal of their lives and the neighborhood at large.
